The Grand Trianon

The Grand Trianon was built in 1687 by Jules Hardouin Mansart on a site called “Porcelain Trianon” in Versailles. Louis XIV had erected this site earlier to escape the pomp and rigid formality of court. Today the atmosphere is still unique. It is cozy, sweet and grand all at the same time. The surrounding gardens are full of ornamentaly shaped flowerbeds with a droll mix of different flowers. This appearance reminds more of a glory of wild meadows than a palace garden which is probably the thing that makes this combination so compelling.TheGardenOfGrandTrianon OrnamentalMeadow GoldenTrianon Flowerbeds DetailGrandTrianonVersailles
