Everlasting Cakes – Artificial DIY cakes to decorate your home

We seem to have a serious problem: Cakes disappear! No matter what kinds of cakes there are: pecan, merengue or chocolate chip, they all disappear soon after they have been baked. Now, when it is again a serious cake season, we started really thinking about how to solve this decoration problem. Because this really is a decoration problem as well! Christmas cakes would look so nice when decorating our holiday table if only they would be there for more than 5 minutes!

For everlasting cakes you need a special dough. A little warning here: You might not want to taste this dough!

Mix together:

  • 3 dl or 1 1/4 cup wheat flour
  • 1.5 dl or 2/3 cup salt
  • 1.5 dl or 2/3 cup water
  • 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil

If the dough is too sticky, add some flour. Then you can start baking!

You can dry the cakes in the oven (approx. 100 °C / 210 °F). We started to dry our cakes in the oven but after about an hour got bored, took them out and let them dry on the table for a few days. After they were completely dry, we decorated them with some hobby paints.

Ready to enjoy, but not to eat! They look so delicious that you nearly want to try 🙂
